Odd Lot Oil Tan Sides

You pick the price, we pick the color! - Earth Tones or Black

We have a little something for everyone in our selection of Odd Lot Oil Tan Sides! Whether you need a whole side or part of a side, with several buying options, we've got you covered. Great for beginners and old hands alike, these value-priced oil tans have become some of our best-selling leathers—and it's easy to see why.

No two batches are exactly alike, and that's part of the fun. Most pieces have a smooth grain, although some beautiful pebble grains occasionally make their way into the mix. Some are oilier than others, some are firmer, some have a strong pull-up, and others have a more subtle pull-up or distressed appearance. At these prices, occasional natural range markings and other imperfections may be present, adding even more character to the leather.

With so much variety, the project possibilities are nearly endless. These oil tans are excellent for chaps, saddle strings, bags, totes, backpacks, satchels, aprons, journals, moccasins, linings, and just about anything else you'd normally reach for oil-tanned leather to make.

Options

$25 Option – Approximately 6–8 Sq. Ft.
A great choice for smaller projects, experimenting with oil tan leather, or adding some variety to your leather stash. Pieces will generally fall within the 3.5–5 oz. range and may occasionally be slightly larger than the listed square footage.

$50 Option – Approximately 15–18 Sq. Ft.
Need more leather for bags, aprons, satchels, or other larger projects? These sides offer generous cutting area while maintaining the same variety of grain, pull-up, temper, and character found throughout the Odd Lot Oil Tan selection. Most will fall within the 3.5–5 oz. range and may occasionally run a little larger.

2 for $75 – Approximately 26–34 Sq. Ft. Total
Yup... you got it. Two sides! Is there a catch? Simply put, NO! You'll receive two good-quality sides totaling approximately 26–34 square feet. The sides may be cowhide or Water Buffalo and will generally fall within the 3.5–5 oz. range.

You might get a 12 and 14 sq. ft. side, a 14 and 16, a 20 and 13, a 17 and 16... well, you get the picture. Individual side sizes will vary, but the pair will fall within the approximate total square footage range. Most have a smooth grain, although pebble grain may occasionally be included. Many feature a nice pull-up, while others may have a more distressed appearance.

Please Note: When possible, we try to keep both matching pairs and assorted pairs on hand for the 2-for-$75 option. If you have a preference, add a note to your order at checkout and your gatherer will do their best to accommodate your request. Preferences cannot be guaranteed.

Odd Lot Oil Tan Sides are a great way to get plenty of useful, character-rich leather at a price that leaves more room in the budget for your next project—or maybe the one after that, too.

Reviews

Excellent Quality for the Price

"I'm looking at making leather journals. The high quality leather delivered through this offer blew me away! I can make maybe 7 or more journals from the piece. Thank you for this wonderful deal, and enabling me to progress in my craft!"

Morgan S. (5/5)

Beautiful leather

"First time leather working and was able to make a ton of little journals for our family. Burnishing the rough side was the most time consuming part. Everyone loves them. Will be back for more when I figure out how to use my scraps!"

"I absolutely love the two sides I got! Made some journals and eye glass cases with them!"

Rustic L. (5/5)

Love it

"Great price, quality product. A few blemishes but that was to be expected."

Michael H. (5/5)

Very Nice

"I got the 2 for 75 bundle and was very happy with both. Both pieces were medium-dark brown but not exactly the same. Both appeared to be in the 4-5oz range as well. That worked well for me as the black and tan bundle pieces I got were more in the 3oz range. I needed some variety."

Robert S. (5/5)

Odd but cool

"The odd lot black leather I received has an odd kind of dark brown tint, backside is definitely brown. I think I like it."

Diana N. (5/5)

2 for $95

"Good price compared to Tandy and Oregon leather. One was more stiff than the other… I really like the stiffer one."

Michael R. (5/5)

exceptional value

"outstanding product, nothing is available for this price. . . Yes, it is one color if I need to be specific, I would go to a place and get specific. I don't expect full line of colors and thickness at this price. It was as it said it would be"
