If you're looking to make biker chaps, these sides are right in the standard weight and feel for the job. At 3–4 oz. with a medium temper, the leather has enough substance to hold up to regular wear while remaining flexible enough to move comfortably with the rider.

The surface has a slight pebble grain that gives the leather a clean, classic chap-leather appearance without making it overly textured. These sides are also water resistant, making them a practical choice for riding gear and other leather goods that may see changing weather and regular outdoor use.

While chaps are the obvious application, this leather also works well for vests, garments, bags, motorcycle accessories, soft cases, and other projects that need a medium-weight chrome-tanned leather with flexibility and good coverage from a larger side.

Please Note: This leather is sold by the square foot and may be cut to fill your order. Individual sides average 22–25 Sq. Ft., and natural variation in grain and surface character should be expected.

Best Black Chap Leather I have ever used!

"I absolutely love this leather (in all color variations) and my customers love it too! I have been using this for years, the pink is a customer favorite, and I have never had any complaints! Its a dream to work with and the perfect weight. It holds its shape without flopping but still soft enough to move with the body. 10/10 would recommend!"

Poor customer service . Its

"Poor customer service . Its been since April 28th when I placed order. I called on the 5th to inquire . Label was made that day but still took 2 days to go out . It is now the 15th of May and my leather is still states away . If I would have known I wouldnt have purchased from them . But I haven't had this issue in past orders"

Color is amazing!

"The cowhide is perfect for my bags! The pink is so vibrant and the thickness is just right. I also loved the way the leather was cut."

Color darker than expected, but nice

"It turned out much darker in person than I thought it would be, more of an indigo or dark purple/blue with a grape backside. But the texture is quite nice and it will work for a couple small projects I have. Great leather smell, too!"

Love these leathers!

"This was my second order. These leathers make beautiful book covers and the scraps make great closures. I’m new to leather, and I love how smoothly it cuts with a rotary cutters. However one of my pieces was so wrinkled I don’t know if I can find enough smooth surface to make even one book cover. I have spread it out, hoping it will flatten. I wonder if there is a way to smooth out leather?"

Midweight biker/chap side

"Just the right weight for my needs. Clean and just the right amount of shine."

Leather purchase

"I have to travel 4+ hours to get to the shop! It is so worth it. Everyone is very helpful and though I am an amateur I feel I am no less important than the professionals. I really appreciate the advise and help picking leather that is best suited to my project. I really love Springfield Leather. They are the best. Cannot wait to go back! I bought several different pieces of leather and 2 of the scrap rolls for 20. 00 each. I made the purse shown with some of the scraps. The outside flap I made a flower cutout, the inside flap is a hummer."

Beautiful vibrant colors

"This is my new go-to place for leather! As a rookie I didn’t realize that a square foot would not be a cut square—so beware, newbies, of that. In spite of that, I got enough usable leather to make several beautiful books and I’ll order again soon!"
