Keep your expectations low
"Nice sturdy construction. For the price you'd think they'd spend a few minutes sharpening the blade. Go in with the expectation you'll have to spend a while getting the blade to proper sharpness and lay the hide on a table or somewhere you can get under it. Pull on the piece that is being trimmed off. Practice on scrap leather first so you don't ruin half a side of $$ Herman oak trying to get it right. Really just hoping it will last longer than the wood one I bought a year ago."
