I’m here to tell y’all that this little tool is handier than mittens in a snowstorm. It’s economical, lightweight, and most importantly, convenient. No leather crafter should be without one! To gauge your leather, simply place the piece of leather (lying flat) into the throat, on top of the anvil, and push the presser down, and look at the dial. Simple as that!
PLEASE NOTE! that this gauge will show you the thickness of the leather “On Close”. Meaning that the dial starts with the needle OFF the zero. When you push the presser all the way down to the anvil (without leather), you’ll see it shows zero. You do not have to adjust the dial to zero manually. The ounces are on the outside of the dial face in black and millimeters are on the inside of the dial face in red.
