Springfield Leather just bought another incredibly large bunch of really nice leather...but it was contingent upon us taking some other leather that was somewhat less than really nice.... Actually, it's not that bad, because most of it is pretty much ok, and some of it is quite good, but it's just the perfectly wrong leather for many things.
Most of it is finished splits, which is not a bad thing, but when it's stiff, 4 oz., or 5 or 6 oz., and the wrong color, then things get a bit sketchy when trying to sell it. Some of it is actually fine leather, but it's got a weird print on it. Some of it is as stiff as a board and a lousy color with no print. Some has some finish issues (cracking and such). Some is 2 oz., and ok. some is 5 oz. and ok. Some are just strange colors. Some are normal colors. Some are 3-4-5 sq. ft. pieces, some are cow sides and bends and double butts.
From my point of view, it's just the fact that most of it is pretty firm, and "off colored" tha(more...)Now includes a piece of veg tan leather large enough for a wallet back! For some reason SLC has a tendency to accumulate leathers that are just hard to deal with.... (who’d a thunk) it can be anything from a less than wonderful color, to a fantastic piece with a couple of holes. Or ink marks. or a stain. or a funny shaped piece. or a one of a kind item that’s completely wonderful with no issues at all. and more than likely there’s going to be a piece of something that’s falls into someone’s idea of UGLY!!! Bottom line is this: The tremendous variety in leather color and type is hard to put into words. It's not that bad, because most of it is pretty much ok. The price is great, and we sell more of this bundle than any other bundle. Don’t expect five dollar a foot leather.....
