These are more than likely, probably, no doubt, reputedly some of the nicest bridle leather strips that have ever graced this glorious earth! Cut from genuine Hermann Oak Bridle sides, they give you the strength, firm body, smooth grain, and rich finished surface of traditional bridle leather without having to cut long straps from a full side yourself.

Each strip is cut at least 72" long, making them especially useful for belts, reins, bridles, tack, long straps, handles, and other projects where length and consistency matter. We cut them from our 8–10 oz. Hermann Oak Bridle sides, giving you plenty of substance for hard-working leather goods.

The flesh side has Hermann Oak’s finished moss back. Mossing, also called pasting, lays down and seals the flesh-side fibers to create a smoother, cleaner back with less fuzzing. That finished back is particularly nice on belts, tack, and straps where both sides of the leather remain visible.

This is already finished bridle leather, so it is intended for projects where you want the color and finish ready to go. It is not recommended for tooling, stamping, or wet molding. Cut it, edge it, burnish it, punch it, stitch it, and add your hardware.

Need something lighter? We can split the strips down from their original 8–10 oz. weight by request. Just make sure you clearly tell us the finished thickness you need when ordering.

Please Note: Splitting removes material from the flesh side, so a strip that has been split to a lighter weight will no longer have the original moss back finish.
