M & G Mont Blanc is a full-grain, chrome-tanned leather with a smooth surface, beautiful pull-up, and a medium-soft, drapey hand. Tanned in Northern Italy, Mont Blanc is finished with layers of wax that give the leather depth and movement as it is bent, stretched, and handled.
If you’re familiar with our M & G Eastwood Collection, Mont Blanc has a similar smooth feel and dramatic pull-up, but with a noticeably drier feel and less oil content. That gives it a somewhat lighter, cleaner hand while still allowing the color to shift beautifully when the leather is flexed. The waxed surface will also burnish and develop a richer patina with use.
Because Mont Blanc is aniline dyed and full grain, the natural character of the hide remains visible. Range marks, healed scratches, grain variation, and other characteristics are not covered by a heavy pigment layer. That transparency is a big part of what gives Mont Blanc its depth and classic appearance.
With hides ranging from approximately 44–58 Sq. Ft., there is plenty of room for larger projects like totes, duffels, handbags, cushions, and upholstery. Its 2–4 oz. weight also works nicely for wallets, money clips, watchbands, small leather goods, and other projects where you want a softer leather without sacrificing character.
These hides come from Moore & Giles seconds, overruns, and off-specification lots. That can mean additional cosmetic markings, brands, grain variation, or color that fell outside a customer’s requested shade or tone. The leather itself is still the same high-quality Mont Blanc construction; these lots simply did not meet the cosmetic or production requirements of the original order.
