Venetian Upholstery is a soft, chrome-tanned cowhide with a sleek feel, excellent drape, and a distinctive two-tone pull-up. The leather is aniline dyed and finished with waxes that allow the color to shift and lighten as the hide is bent, stretched, or handled, giving finished projects plenty of depth and natural character.
At 2–3 oz., Venetian is lightweight and pliable enough to wrap smoothly around upholstered shapes while still having enough substance for handbags, totes, fashion accessories, album covers, pillows, home décor, and other soft leather goods. The supple temper also makes it easy to fold, stitch, and work around curves without creating unnecessary bulk.
The aniline finish allows more of the hide’s natural grain and character to remain visible rather than covering it with a heavy pigment layer. A light protective finish provides some resistance to everyday scuffing and fading while still allowing the leather to develop character and patina as it is used.
With whole hides averaging 45–55 Sq. Ft., Venetian is especially useful for larger upholstery and interior projects where good drape, a soft hand, and a rich pull-up effect are important.
Please Note: Aniline and pull-up leathers naturally show variation in grain, tone, and surface character. Areas may lighten when flexed or stretched as the waxes move within the leather, and handling will gradually contribute to the leather’s patina.

"This stuff is great for making a leather jacket! The un-corrected full grain and dyed finish lends itself to developing interesting character. There is plenty of differing grain structure throughout a full hide, which I find very appealing. It’s thick enough to provide structure, but is plenty soft to eliminate any need for tough break in if you plan on making a garment with it, which is all I’ve used it for. The scent is heavenly, like leather candy!"
