We took our heavyweight Dark Mahogany Oil Tan and cut it into ready-to-use strips. This leather has a medium-firm temper, very little stretch, and plenty of body, making it a great choice when you need a heavy strip without having to break down a full side yourself.

Available in 1" and 1½" widths, these strips are well suited for work belts, heavy straps, rifle slings, tack components, motorcycle accessories, tool carriers, heavy-duty collars, handles, and other hard-working projects. At 9–10 oz., this is thick leather built for applications where strength and structure matter.

The dark mahogany surface has a matte finish with a subtle pull-up. Bending and flexing the leather brings out warmer tonal variation beneath the surface, while scuffs and handling gradually add to its broken-in character. The oil tannage keeps the leather from feeling dry or boardy while still allowing it to hold its shape.

These are finished oil-tanned strips, so they're ready for cutting to length, punching, edging, stitching, and hardware installation. If you need a heavy strap with a clean, rustic look and don't want to cut long strips from a side, we've already done that part for you.

Natural markings, healed scars, tonal variation, and changes in the pull-up are normal characteristics of this leather. Because this is oil-tanned leather, we do not recommend it for holsters or knife sheaths.
