Fish, Fur, Feathers, ETC. is exactly what it sounds like—a box of assorted leather remnants for makers who enjoy digging through a pile and figuring out what each piece wants to become. Each box contains approximately 6 lb. of genuine leather pieces, with ostrich, pirarucu, and hair-on cowhide making up the core of the assortment.
The pieces can range from small strips and hand-sized scraps to larger sections approaching 2 Sq. Ft. Some of the ostrich can be especially nice, with both quilled and smoother areas represented. Pirarucu may have the large, dimensional scales the fish is known for, while other pieces may have smaller or smoother scale patterns. Hair-on cowhide adds another completely different texture to work with.
And then there’s the ETC. Depending on what we have available when the boxes are packed, you may find additional exotic leather such as lizard, snake, caiman, hippo, giraffe, or elephant. We also include at least one or two vegetable-tanned lambskins in each box, giving you something completely different from the chrome-tanned exotic pieces.
This assortment is made for creative use of smaller pieces. Think minimalist wallets, card holders, watchbands, jewelry, trims, overlays, inlays, accents, journal details, bag panels, and other projects where a little bit of unusual leather can make a big difference. Larger pieces may give you room for wallet backs or other small leather goods, but this is first and foremost a box of remnants—not a box of perfect project-sized cuts.
Please Note: Every box is different. Leather type, species, piece size, thickness, texture, grain, finish, and overall assortment will vary. There will be small, irregular, and scrappy pieces mixed with the larger usable sections. Specific exotic species or piece sizes beyond the core assortment are not guaranteed.

"SLC technically describes it accurately. I’d be happier if it resembled the picture but most was strips and large amount of this is unusable. The big ostrich piece has a VERY strong odor- and not the high end leather smell some people complain about. Hopefully it’ll mellow after airing out for a few weeks. The picarucu looks like some took a cheese grater to it. I would return if I wasn’t confident I could break even on some minimalist wallets (out of the ostrich- combined with mostly cow). The bird is the only good part of this order. 100% would not order again. Not very happy with it."

"Most of what I got doesn’t seem very useable, a lot of pieces are so narrow or small that it makes them mostly useless. Additionally the picarucu pieces have a tattered finish to it. Two pieces have a decent enough look to maybe be used as accent piece on a bag. I’m not sure the rest is useable. The ostrich had some useable pieces and is the only redeemable part of this order. One is big enough for a small bag (but sting odor- beyond just leather), a few pieces are big enough for wallets or card slots. The rest is narrow trimmings that will either inlay or keychains. Not the most pleased with this order would definitely not order again, I get that it’s exotic but it still has to be useable."
