Fiebing’s LeatherColors is a non-flammable, water-based penetrating leather dye made for natural vegetable-tanned leather. Formerly known as Fiebing’s Institutional Dye, it provides color by penetrating the leather rather than covering the surface like paint.
Because the dye penetrates the leather, the natural grain, tooling, and stamped detail remain visible. The final appearance can vary depending on the leather, surface preparation, application, and number of coats.
LeatherColors is a good choice for belts, wallets, notebook covers, tooled leather, leather shapes, and other natural veg-tan projects that need rich, penetrating color.
Please Note: Use on clean, unfinished natural vegetable-tanned leather. Existing oils, finishes, or surface coatings may prevent the dye from penetrating evenly. Always test on a scrap piece before applying it to your project.
