Fiebing’s Tan Kote is a resin-based top finish commonly used by belt and saddle makers. It adds a light protective coating while leaving the leather with a natural-looking finish that is less glossy than many acrylic topcoats.

Tan Kote can be applied with a sponge or sprayed in thin, even coats. It works well as a final finish on belts, saddlery, wallets, notebook covers, cases, and other smooth or tooled leather projects where a softer sheen is preferred.

Tan Kote can also be used to thin Fiebing’s Antique Finish. Mixing the two products makes the antique easier to spread and reduces its color strength, giving you more control over the final tone and contrast. Add Tan Kote gradually, mix thoroughly, and record the proportions when you need to repeat the same result.

Please Note: Allow dyes, stains, and antiques to dry completely before applying Tan Kote as a top finish. Always test the complete finishing process on a scrap piece before using it on the finished project.
