These black polyurethane-coated splits came from a footwear manufacturer that no longer needed this production leather, and we were able to pick them up at a price that made them too good to pass up. The coating is bonded well to the leather and has a clean, smooth surface with just the slightest bit of texture.

At 3–4 oz. with a medium-firm temper, these pieces have enough body for structured goods while still being easy to cut and sew. The PU coating gives the surface a consistent, finished appearance, which makes this leather especially useful when you want repeatable results across several pieces.

This would be a great leather for a small production run of wallets, cases, bags, accessories, panels, or other leather goods where consistency matters. The average piece is about 9.8 Sq. Ft., with most pieces falling in the 8–12 Sq. Ft. range.
