Hermann Oak Natural Belt Bends come from the strongest, most uniform portion of the hide. By removing the shoulder and belly, you are left with the bend—the section leatherworkers look for when cutting long, consistent belts and straps. If you want to have the best, quite simply, this is it.
The firm temper and clean grain make these bends excellent for belts, straps, tooling, carving, stamping, dyeing, and other traditional veg-tan work. Most full bends will yield approximately 16–18 strips at 1½" wide, with many of those strips running around 52"–60" long. That makes a bend especially useful when you need multiple belt-length pieces from the same hide.
Full bends average approximately 10–12 Sq. Ft., while half bends average approximately 5–6 Sq. Ft. Because leather is a natural material, exact dimensions and usable yield will vary from piece to piece.
Hermann Oak has been vegetable tanning leather in St. Louis, Missouri since 1881. Their slow, traditional tanning process has made Hermann Oak a longtime favorite for belts, saddlery, tooling, carving, and other projects where firm, dependable veg tan matters.
Please Note: We cannot honor requests for specific bend sizes. Bends will not contain holes, but scars, range marks, scud, and other natural characteristics may be present. We do our best to keep blemishes toward the outer edges or positioned so they affect as little strap yield as possible.

"My only issue is actually pretty small. One of The 2-3 oz bends was stored on its cut end. So it curled up about an inch and a half. Small inconvenience but noticeable. I’d say 4. 5 stars."
