Lining Pig Splits are thin, soft pigskin splits made for projects where you want genuine leather without adding a lot of bulk. At just 1–1½ oz., they work especially well as linings, interior layers, and pockets where a heavier leather would quickly make the finished project too thick.

Because these are split leather, the grain layer has been removed, leaving a soft sueded surface rather than the smooth grain found on full-grain pigskin. The lightweight feel makes the skins easy to fold, glue, stitch, and fit inside finished leather goods.

The long shape of the skins makes them especially handy for lining belts, but they also work well for wallet interiors, pockets, handbags, cases, footwear linings, notebook interiors, and other projects where a thin leather lining is useful. They can also be used for lightweight interior components if you understand how to work with softer split leather.

Pigskin has long been used as a lining leather because it offers a useful combination of low weight, flexibility, and durability. These splits are a practical option when the lining needs to do its job without becoming the most expensive or complicated part of the project.
