S.B. Foot Mohave is a premium roughout leather originally developed for demanding field conditions. Chrome tanned and made in the USA, it combines a consistent, buffed surface with the durability, water resistance, and stain resistance that make roughout such a practical choice for footwear and hard-working leather goods.

Roughout leather is designed to feature the flesh side as the finished surface. Mohave is carefully buffed to create a clean, even texture with a soft suede-like feel while retaining more body and durability than a typical lightweight suede. The result is a leather with plenty of character that still looks refined enough for bags, wallets, cases, and other finished goods.

Mohave works especially well for boots, shoes, bags, totes, duffels, outdoor gear, wallets, watch straps, electronics cases, linings, and other projects where durability and a soft textured surface are both important. Depending on the weight selected, it can work as a stand-alone leather or be split thinner for lining and layered construction.

The grain side can also have plenty of usable character, giving leatherworkers another option depending on the project and individual hide. Like most roughout leather, scuffs and handling tend to blend naturally into the textured surface rather than standing out the way they can on smooth finished leather.

S.B. Foot has been tanning leather in Red Wing, Minnesota since 1872 and is well known for producing leather used in Red Wing footwear. Mohave carries that footwear heritage into a versatile roughout that works just as well at the leathercraft bench as it does in a pair of boots.
