Floral carving, basket stamping, initials, brands, geometric patterns, and painted designs all work well on a project this size. Finish the leather before attaching it to the clip so you can work freely without the hardware getting in the way.

Once your design is complete, lightly scuff the area of the hair clip where the leather will be attached. Apply a suitable contact cement to both the clip and the flesh side of the leather, allow the adhesive to become tacky according to its directions, then press the leather firmly into place. Keeping steady pressure on the piece while the cement sets will help create a stronger bond.
