The COBRA NP-4 Bell Knife Skiver is designed to quickly and consistently reduce the thickness of chrome-tanned leather. Skiving removes material from the flesh side of the leather, making it easier to create thinner edges, cleaner folds, less bulky seams, and smooth transitions between layered pieces.

A bottom-feed roller moves the leather steadily beneath the rotating bell knife, while the heavy-duty guide helps control the width and position of the skive. The adjustable-speed digital D.C. servo motor lets you slow the machine down for detailed work or increase the speed once you are comfortable with the operation, giving you much more control than skiving repeatedly by hand.

The NP-4 also includes a built-in knife sharpener, allowing you to maintain the bell knife without removing it from the machine. Keeping the knife properly sharpened is important for producing smooth, consistent skives and reducing unnecessary pulling or drag on the leather.

This machine is especially useful for bags, wallets, footwear, upholstery, garment leather, linings, folded edges, turned seams, and other projects where reducing thickness helps create a cleaner finished product. It can be used to feather an edge, thin an entire section, prepare leather for folding, or reduce bulk where multiple layers will be glued or sewn together.

The pedestal-style stand includes casters for easier movement around the shop and has an approximate 20" × 28" footprint. At around 250 lb., the complete machine is built for a dedicated production workspace while remaining movable when needed.
